F-theory from fundamental five-branes

A bstract We describe the worldvolume for bosonic sector of lower-dimensional F-theory that embeds 4D, N=1 M-theory and 3D Type II superstring. The (5-brane) theory is a single 6D gauge 2-form X MN ( ? P ) whose field strength selfdual. Thus unlike string theory, spacetime indices are tied to worldsheet ones: in Hamiltonian formalism, coordinates 10 GL(5) 5 ’s (neglecting ? ). current algebra gives rederivation F-bracket. background-independent subalgebra Virasoro usual section condition, while new type condition follows from Gauß’s law, tying spacetime: solving just old yields M-theory, only one manifestly T-dual version string, combination produces string. also find covariant form dimensionally reduces coordinates.
